You know, when you are a blogger, sometimes your kids want to do projects too. My son is always coming up with things that I should blog. “Look at this cute cat that I made at school. You should blog that. I’ll leave it on your desk so you can blog that tomorrow.” I sometimes wonder if they even realize what I do as a blogger (besides work on projects and take lots of photos). Most of the computer stuff I do at night or while they are asleep. And I think they all three agree that the projects are the funnest part! They love, love it when I want to include them in projects. And it’s really fun for me, too. I love watching them use their creativity.
A few weeks ago, CraftProjectIdeas.com contacted me and wondered if I would be interested in trying out some of their products. Ummmm….ABSOLUTELY!! Have you heard of CraftProjectIdeas.com? Well, I’m sure you’ve seen their products. Just go to Wal-Mart and check out the Kid’s Craft section. Even in our small town Wal-Mart, it’s an entire aisle full of CraftProjectIdeas.com products!
They have everything! Felt, pom pom, paints, craft foam, beads, glitter glue, stickers. This list goes on and on. Even my kids light up when I walk down that aisle in Wal-Mart. And, if you’re stumped as to what to make with these awesome products, each package has a craft idea plus instructions for that project right on the packaging! Talk about a craft bloggers dream!
Plus, their website has tons more ideas! CraftProjectIdeas.com makes craft supplies for kids anywhere from preschool age to tween! (And the occasional mom who can’t resist a fun kid’s craft!) The other thing that I absolutely love about their products is that they are completely affordable. Actually, I’ve often bought their products to use for my own projects!
So, do you want to see what they sent me?
It was seriously like Christmas at our house! My kids were jumping up and down with excitement as I pulled each thing out of the box. They could not WAIT to make tons of projects!
It took a little while before we could all agree on what to make first. I had my ideas, my daughter had tons of suggestions, and my son had his own imagination working. Finally, we settled on using the Skinny Sticks and the Deluxe Paint Set to make some fun Halloween decorations. We started by building a Skinny Stick base.
Each one took 23 sticks. I built them for the kids since hot glue was involved. 20 sticks for the base and 3 for support on the back.
The Deluxe Paint Set is super fun!
It comes with Glitter colors, Jewel Tone colors, Neon colors and Metallic Paints. There was even a jar of glow-in-the dark paint that we tried. So fun!
After the base was built, I let the kids paint, paint, paint.
They made a Pumpkin and a Girly Frankenstein. On a side note, it was completely unintentional that they chose paint colors to match their clothing. I guess my kids are good at color coordinating.
We let their projects dry before taking pictures. In the meantime, it started to get dark! I wish we weren’t losing our good light so early!! That’s probably my least favorite part about winter. I can handle the cold, just not the dark.
After they were done, I wanted to figure out a way to display them. Then, I remembered that I had some magnets in my craft stash and decided to glue some magnets on the back. But, do you want to know the funny thing?
Yep! CraftProjectIdeas.com magnets! I told you that I buy their products. I bought them months ago for a different project (that I obviously still need to make seeing that the package has never been opened).
I hot glued the magnets on the back and hung my kid’s cute Halloween creations on the fridge. I love the extra scary pumpkin my son made. And my daughter added eyelashes to her girlie Frankenstein. I love it when they have the opportunity to use their own creativity without my help! I really love how vibrant the paint colors look. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but my kids chose to use the glitter paint for they eyes and they sparkle beautifully in real life!
It wasn’t until a little while later that my son reminded me that they used some of the glow-in-the-dark paint. So, we “charged” them up under a light bulb and tested them out.
Isn’t that cool? We thought that it was so funny how the glow in the dark mouth looks like teeth on the pumpkin! And see the flower that is in Frankenstein’s hair? My kids crack me up! I think the kids spent at least the next hour after that charging them and taking them into the dark bathroom. It was a fun night!
Thank you CraftProjectIdeas.com for sending us this fun package!!
